PD 1 - MEDLIGHT DIFFUSING BALOON CATHETER The Medlight diffusing balloon catheter is a soft cylindrical balloon catheter with translucent diffusing walls. Used with a radial light diffuser, the diffusing balloon catheter, guaranties a homogeneous illumination of biological tissues in contact with the balloon walls. The compliant property of its walls allows the balloon to adapt its shape to the lumen geometry and consequently to obtain an accurate light dosimetry in hollow organs such as in gastroenterological endoscopic sites during Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT). The small overall balloon diameter (when deflated) and high flexibility of the catheter allows endoscopic use through the working channel of standard endoscopes. Once in place, the balloon is inflated with saline and adapts its shape to the lumen.

PD 2 - PDT LASER FOR USE WITH PHOTOSENSITIVE DRUGS Photodynamic therapy is a minimally invasive treatment method developed for use in a wide range of diseases characterized by hyperproliferating cells. Using a photosensitizing drug and laser light, PDT can selectively destroy targeted tissues. The AngioDynamics 630 PDT Laser is intended for use in Photodynamic Therapy as a source for the photoactivation of PHOTOFRIN� (porfimer sodium) for Injection for palliation of patients with completely obstructing esophageal cancer, or of patients with partially obstructing esophageal cancer who, in the opinion of their physician, cannot be satisfactorily treated with Nd:YAG laser therapy. PDT is also indicated for reduction of obstruction and palliation of symptoms in patients with completely or partially obstructing endobronchial nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and treatment of microinvasive endobronchial NSCLC in patients for whom surgery and radiotherapy are not indicated
